Early special cheaper price ends tomorrow
The Map to Inspiration on sale until the depths of Saturday night
Hi! It's me! Your friend Julie! Barging into your inbox to let you know that my next online course The Map to Inspiration will be $149 until 11:59 pm ET TOMORROW (12/9). As of Sunday, it'll be the regular price of $199 (which is still a good price! you can pay that too!). Payment plans and scholarships are available.
The Map to Inspiration starts on January 16, so if you're all frazzled right now making cookies and buying gift wrap, you can buy the class today and then not worry about it for more than a month. (I saw a sign in a store yesterday that said, "Gift wrapping is better with Scotch!" and I was like "wow, ok" and then I realized they meant Scotch tape, not liquor. But you do you.)
The Map to Inspiration is for you if:
you feel frazzled all the time
you have big ideas for creative work you want to do, but at the end of every day, every week, you sigh and realize you didn't do nearly as much as you wanted to
you used to get huge ideas for your writing, and now...not so much
you've burned dinner because you were so distracted looking up one more thing on your phone
you've tried all kinds of Systems and Organizers and Charts and Special Stickers, and they work great for a few weeks, but now they're in a drawer
you have so many stories in you, but the more time goes on, the more you feel like those ideas are getting buried deep inside you, and you're worried you're losing them
All of those bullet points were me. Are me! Sometimes they still are me! But I went from being 100% those bullet points all the time, to now being those bullet points like maybe 4.2% of the time, when I’m having a tired day or one of those days where I keep dropping things or the person behind me is using a leaf blower for many hours. (Or for no reason! You’re allowed to have a crappy day! But now, when I feel good about the work I’m getting done almost every day, I can see a crappy day and rest and stretch and it’s no big deal.)
The Map to Inspiration is NOT a productivity system. It's not about productivity at all. You might become more productive! But that's not the point. The point is to remember how to access your inspiration and intuition, and to look at your schedule and your life and slow way down, so you make time for the creative work you actually have been wanting to get done. It's a 4-week journey into remembering what it's like to be in your own flow. You'll remember what it was like when you didn't feel like you had to post things on the internet. You'll stop spending so much brain space writing content to please the tech algorithms, and get back to writing messy, beautiful, human words that please YOU. (And yes, sure sure sure, the secret of it all is that if you figure out the way to do this for you, with your schedule and your life, then you WILL be more productive, and these things you make that delight your own self first and most of all, will end up being true and mind blowing and relatable and will end up being something that other people like, very much.)
P.S. Make a Mess, Clean It Up, my take-anytime picture book revision class is Pay What You Want until tomorrow at 11:59 pm also, so now’s the time to get that if it’s been on your wish list.

I’m always so into any essay that’s like “here’s how the rules of improv make you a better person” and this is a good one, about having conversations.
I definitely found this to be true, that I spend a LOT less money when I’m not online (especially Instagram! oh wow does that ever target me with things that are exactly what I want to buy).
I’m truly delighted by the “George Washington’s Dream” SNL sketch.
New favorite: cauliflower popcorn (it’s not popcorn, it’s not fooling anyone, but it’s a fun name).
Finally, here’s an amazing sign I saw hanging up in a school I was in last week:
