Love this. It reminds me of the part in Big Magic where Gilbert talks about ideas flying from person to person, just waiting for someone’s muse to be ready to get it down on paper. Ideas everywhere!
I can't even tell you how much that concept resonated with me the first time I read it. It was like a secret I had, that that's how ideas get around, and it was so validating to read about it in Big Magic. I think too about the poet she talks about who would feel the poem coming and would run to her desk to get the story down, and if she didn't run fast enough, then the poem would come to her backwards, as she pulled on the tail end of it and reeled it in. (!!)
Thanks, Megan! Yeah, I have definitely played with some ideas before realizing they're not for me. I was thinking this morning (after reading Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen's new version of The Three Billy Goats Gruff) about fairy tale or folk tale retellings, and I like to read them, but any time I've tried to do one, they don't work at all, and it's because, really, they're not my kind of book to write.
I have to tell you also that the pugs are on social media as the Pugdashians. If you are keen on checking out more about them.
Maybe your world is trying to tell you that the sequel to NO BORING STORIES should be THAT'S NOT MY STORY. ;)
Um, well, that's an amazing idea. I'M WRITING THAT DOWN, HEATHER!
YES! Seriously, it's been popping up in your newsletters and talks for a long time. Go for it!
