Yours in Books is out today
Yours in Books is out today! It's published by Cameron Kids and illustrated by Gabriel Alborozo. (WAIT until you see the illustrations in this book! They are so incredibly cozy and you will want to live in all of them.)
It's the story of a grumpy owl who is just trying to get a moment's peace so he can drink his tea and read a book (can you relate?) but all the noisy neighborhood children keep disturbing him. So he orders books from his local neighborhood bookstore that he thinks might help (like How to Soundproof Your Forest Dwelling and The Can-Do Guide to Moving to a Remote Tropical Island), but the savvy squirrel bookseller sends him not the books he wants, but the books he needs.
It's told entirely in letters, and is all about community, friendship, and the magic of a spot-on bookseller recommendation.
Kirkus Reviews gave it a starred review (yay!) and calls it a "very funny sendup of epistolary novels" and a "delightful tribute to books, friendship, and company."
Here are some sneak peeks:
Virtual book launch at Print: A Bookstore TONIGHT!
I love my local indie Print: A Bookstore so much that I had my author photos taken there, and while I wish I could see you all in person at my book launch tonight, at least when it's all via Zoom, you can join me even if you live far away. Tonight! 7 pm Eastern! Join me and I'll read Yours in Books and talk about writing, letters, and bookstores (among other things). Sign up here to come to the event.
