The little pencil that won't quit (and darn it, you shouldn't either!)

:D

I will admit that now I'm treating that little pencil little it's a frail old relative. I'm so afraid of the point breaking. It's worked so hard! Now it lives in a place of honor on my shelf. But also maybe I need to stop anthropomorphizing everything.

I don't think I could stop even if I wanted to.

OH MY GOSH. That's such a good idea.

I'm truly impressed that there is an almost full eraser on that nubbin. Not chewed, not worn to nothing. So many full length pencils in my house have absolutely no eraser! When found, they go in the trash.

I know, and at first it made me worried that this pencil was nothing more than an overzealous one-time pencil sharpening incident. But the eraser has been used, some. It remains a mystery how this all happened!

Protect this pencil at all costs! 🖤

I have truthfully been so cavalier about protecting it or even keeping track of it and now I'm thinking I need to get a pedestal and a velvet pillow for this thing. (Do not fear. It is safe on the bookshelf right behind me. I did just turn around to make sure.)

OMG, Julie. I also have a pencil like this that reminds me of writing work accountability - https://www.instagram.com/p/CYMqZ6XvRIN/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link has the receipt -<twilight zone music> I did not sharpen as far as you did (or your family did) on using it up to the metal band, because putting my fingertips on the metal part makes my teeth set on edge...but it's shorter now than it was back in Jan. 2021 (when I took that pic). Anyhow, we may be long-lost writing siblings.
